You seem to be hitting a lot of spots I'm aching to visit. I'm heading for Venice for 2 week in October, but my people are Southern. In fact, I also come from Sicilian immigrant butchers. Well, one anyway.

Have you been south yet? It's home, you know.

I have not! I remember going to Europe when I was 19 and my grandmother INSISTING I go no further south than Rome and definitely not to Sicily because a) she battled a purse snatcher and b) one of our family names is Gambino. I obeyed and she did some magic to protect me from the Evil Eye.

But a) She's dead, b) I don't carry a purse, and c) My last name is clearly not Gambino.

I'll probably be okay.

A lot in the south has changed for the better. (And frankly a lot in northern Italy has changed for the worse.) I have no doubt it will be a life changing experience.

If that damned Mike White and his blasted White Lotus hadn't happened, I'd have gone this year!

Just avoid Taormina and you'll be fine. (It was overrated before that.) Also, let me know if you need help!
