So much great advice-- I agree 100% with your assessment of the villa experience and also your advice about August in Italy. I love going to our home in Marche in August-- as you said, the towns are alive and full of activity in a way that they often aren't even in the fall or spring. And the idea that Americans are worrying about street crime in Italy? Come on. As a New Yorker who also spends time in LA, Portland, Oregon, Atlanta-- there's just no comparison. Italy is far safer than most American suburbs, much less cities.

Fantastic episode. You have made me feel so much better about booking in August. So many online forums call it out as the worst time. I appreciate it’s not the best for every location, but the broad brush veto on August gets abit tiring. Love your work Danielle

As an author of travel essays and Italian history residing here since 1965 I can recommend all the tips and strategies you have shared here....there are so many other places that love having visitors. My town is very popular with Dutch visitors for example. Well done !
